21st Century College – 19th Century Roots

When Globe University/Minnesota School of Business (GU/MSB) opened in downtown Minneapolis in 2008, it was returning to the place where it began. Minnesota School of Business started in downtown Minneapolis in 1877. Today it operates within Globe Education Network, a group of career colleges. Although now part of a much larger organization, it remains true to its original philosophy: to provide students with the practical skills and knowledge they will need to build rewarding careers.

Although the world has changed, we are committed to our original mission

In 1877, most of the students at Globe College were men. Many were from small towns and farms in the region around the Twin Cities. Today the farms have become suburbs and the school now welcomes men and women from throughout the upper Midwest, the United States and around the world. Although the environment is very different from that experienced by our first students, one thing remains the same: our commitment to providing students the tools they can use to become successful in their fields.

Growth and expansion has benefitted our students

Today, in addition to Twin Cities locations in Woodbury and Minneapolis, GU/MSB has locations throughout the upper Midwest. Students are able to take classes at any one of our several locations. We also have a thriving online division that makes it possible for students who thought their schedules could not accommodate college to earn degrees.

Today GU/MSB is more than a business college

From our beginnings as a business and commercial training college, we have expanded to include law, information technology and health science. Our degree programs in each of these areas provide students with a wealth of options and opportunities to specialize. We offer master’s, bachelor’s and associate degrees. Students are able to receive credit for prior education, training and experience, reducing the time required to earn their degrees and getting them into the job market quickly.

Our faculty is key to our success

Although we are proud of our history, we are even prouder of our continuing ability to provide students with the training they need to be successful. Our instructors are experienced practitioners in their fields and know what is important for advancement in their areas of expertise. In addition to teaching, our faculty members serve as personal and professional mentors informally and as advisors to our student organizations. Students repeatedly say how much they appreciate opportunities to interact with the professionals who are their teachers.
