Students at Globe University/Minnesota School of Business (GU/MSB) are not typical college students. They may have been working or serving in the military. They may have started college before. We offer students credit for prior learning, training and work. They can receive college credit for up to 75% of degree program requirements for a Bachelor of Science degree or up to 50% for a Master of Business Administration degree. Transfer credit
We award students credit for college courses completed at other institutions. Our Education Department evaluates the strength of the institution from which the student transfers. In addition, we weigh the relevance of the proposed transfer credits to the student’s degree program. All transferable credits must have earned a grade of C- or P or better.
We work with students to ensure that they do not repeat courses that apply to their programs. There are a number of limitations on transfer credits and it is best to consult the Education Department to learn whether credits that you hope to transfer will be accepted.
Advanced standing tests
We award credit for demonstrated proficiency in a subject. This can be obtained by taking a test administered by our Education Department. The test must be taken before the beginning of the quarter in which the relevant course would be required. Not all subjects have advanced standing tests.
Prior learning assessment
Students may submit proof of learning outside the traditional classroom for credit evaluation. Documentation can include official results or certificates from the following:
- Professional training
- Licenses
- Coursework earned at non-transferable institutions
- CLEP tests
- DANTES tests
- AP tests
- SkillSoft
As with transfer credits, there are requirements and limitations that must be met before credit is applied to a student’s program. Consult the Education Department to learn more.
Professional work experience
We offer students the opportunity to receive credit for work experience that strengthened a student’s occupational, supervisory or management skills during work in industry, business or the military. Consult the Education Department to obtain the forms and documentation requirements.
