Business Degrees in Downtown Minneapolis

Globe University/Minnesota School of Business (GU/MSB) began in the 1870s as a business college. We remain true to our history by offering a wide array of programs that prepare students for rewarding business careers. When you take classes at our downtown Minneapolis site, you are learning in the midst of the largest commercial center in the upper Midwest.

Our business programs

Business degrees are among our most popular educational programs. Graduates are eligible for positions in large corporations, educational institutions, non-profits and government agencies. Many become small business owners and entrepreneurs. Whichever paths they choose, our business college gives graduates the knowledge to be valuable members of any work group from their first days on the job.

Specific business degree programs leading to Bachelor of Science (BS) degrees and Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degrees include the following:

  • Accounting. We offer bachelor’s and associate degrees in accounting as well as a technical diploma. BS degree graduates are eligible to take the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) exam and the Minnesota Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam.
  • Accounting and Tax Specialist. A student can complete an AAS degree in Accounting and Tax Specialist in preparation for a career as a financial accountant, tax accountant, tax specialist or business consultant.
  • Business Administration. We offer the MBA as well as bachelor’s and associate degrees in business administration.
  • Business Administrative Assistant.  This technical diploma program prepares students for administrative assistant and office management positions.  Students can complete this program in just nine months.
  • Business Management. This BS degree gives students the chance to specialize in a particular area of business:
  • Management Accounting. This two-year degree program prepares students for entry-level positions in accounting.
  • Media Business. This 2 + 2 bachelor’s degree provides students with media or technical associate degrees the chance to earn BS degrees with a media business focus. This gives them the business and multimedia skills that employers want.

Student activities strengthen our academic programs

At our Minneapolis location, students can supplement their formal learning by participating in student organizations, including DEX, the college version of DECCA. This international student marketing and management organization provides students with chances to compete, attend conferences and sharpen their communication and business skills. Business students can also attend meetings of G-PLAAC, the Globe paralegal club. And if they see a need for another group, we will help them start it.

Credit for prior learning and work experience

Many of our students bring previous college credits, work experience and military training to their studies at GU/MSB. On request, we evaluate all prior learning experiences so that students can receive college credit — up to 75% for bachelor’s or associate degrees and 50% for the MBA degree. Contact your campus dean for more information.
