Earn a Two-year Accounting Degree in Minneapolis

An accounting and tax specialist degree gives you the knowledge and skills you will need to perform a wide variety of accounting functions. You will also be ready to be a tax advisor, tax preparer or owner of a home-based tax-related business. At the downtown Minneapolis site of Globe University/Minnesota School of Business (GU/MSB), we offer this 2-year degree residentially and online. This gives students the chance to select schedules that work best for them.

Consulting with professionals to develop our program

At GU/MSB, our mission is to prepare students for success in their chosen careers. We consult with a program advisory committee made up of accounting professionals. They know what skills and knowledge employers want; they also help us review our programs so that we continue to offer up-to-date training.

Building on your two-year degree

Many of our students return to complete BS degrees in accounting, building on their two-year associate degrees in tax specialist. Many credits from the AAS degree will transfer to the bachelor’s degree program. In addition, students who have been working in the field may be able to receive college credit for their work experience and on-the-job training. Our program of credit for prior learning is unusual; we do not charge tuition for transfer credits, making it possible for students to complete degrees at less cost and in less time than at other colleges. To learn more about the process of applying for credit, contact us today.

Strengthen your credentials with a certification

Our accounting and tax specialist degree will prepare you for the exams and workplace experience you will need for certifications such as:

  • Accredited Business Accountant/Advisor (ABA) – This certification requires three years of experience in the field and a passing grade on the exam administered by the Accreditation Council for Accountancy and Taxation (ACAT).
  • Enrolled Agent (EA) – An enrolled agent may be self-employed, work for the Internal Revenue Service or be employed by an accounting firm. Enrolled agents are able to represent taxpayers in matters that come before the IRS.
