Graduates of our health care management degree program are prepared for entry level positions such as the following:

Coursework in the health care management program

This bachelors degree program can be completed in as little as three years of full-time study. Students take specialized classes in health care topics, including the following:

  • Public health
  • US health systems
  • Health politics and policy
  • Health care management
  • Management of health information systems
  • Ambulatory care
  • Long term care
  • Case studies in health care administration
  • Hospital administration

Students also take a five-credit capstone course that requires completing either a major research paper, an externship, a health care project management experience or a business plan. They complete business and general education courses to strengthen their communication, analytical and presentation skills.

The coursework for this degree program centers on developing four key skills that will serve you well throughout your professional career:

  • Communicating. Writing, presenting and speaking are critical to convincing others of the rightness of health care policy changes and improvements

  • Networking. You will be able to meet with the practitioners in the health care field who make up our program advisory committee and create a network of professional relationships.
  • Practicing. The capstone course gives you the chance to practice and demonstrate your skills. You have practical experience that sets you apart from others when you begin the job search that will start you on your career path.

We offer this degree program completely online. Students can also take some classes online and others at our downtown Minneapolis facility or one of other upper Midwest locations. We know that our students lead busy and complicated lives. We offer a variety of flexible scheduling options, including days, evenings, full-time and part-time, so that students are able to complete their educations.
