Why downtown Minneapolis?

Our location in the IDS Tower is a great place to study to become a paralegal. There are hundreds of law firms in the Twin Cities with thousands of attorneys. Many of them are located within a few blocks of our facility at 8th and Marquette. Many of our paralegal instructors work nearby. City and county government agencies that often employ paralegals are within easy walking distance of our facility.

Paralegal degree programs

We offer two paralegal programs:

Bachelor of Science in Paralegal (BS). This four-year degree provides students with a thorough grounding in those practice areas in which paralegals often work. Students also complete 55 credits of general education courses that strengthen their critical thinking, analytical and writing skills. Graduates of this program often find positions where they work under the general supervision of an attorney in a specific practice area. Many firms now require bachelor’s degrees for paralegal positions.

Associate in Applied Science in Paralegal (AAS) This two-year program is the way many people enter the paralegal field, returning to college later to earn bachelors degrees. Students in this program can graduate quickly—within 21 months of full-time study—and enter the workforce.

Students are also able to complete a paralegal certificate program through our online division. This post-baccalaureate program makes it possible for students with bachelor's degrees to earn certificates in nine months.  They are ready for rewarding careers in the legal field.

Online or in class options available

Our paralegal degree programs are offered at our Minneapolis location and at our other campuses throughout the upper Midwest. Because many of students have busy and complicated lives, we also offer each program through our online division, allowing students to complete their courses at times that are convenient for them.

Programs designed and taught by experienced professionals

Our paralegal programs were developed with the help of a program advisory committee made up of experienced paralegals, attorneys and legal office managers. They have the experience to identify the skills and knowledge that are necessary for success in the field. They also review our programs regularly to ensure that we provide up-to-date instruction and training that meets the needs of today's employers.

Our instructors are experienced legal practitioners. They use their expertise and knowledge to supervise externships, advise the student paralegal club and help students develop professional networks. Many are lawyers with backgrounds ranging from operating a solo practice to serving as in-house counsel. Others are seasoned paralegals with many years of experience. Our diverse faculty members share a passion for the law and for teaching. Our students are the beneficiaries.
