Graduate Degree
In many organizations, an MBA or other master’s degree is a prerequisite for advancement to management. This presents a problem for the employee who has acquired graduate-level training or experience in a non-academic setting. A traditional MBA or MSM program will be inefficient and may not provide an appropriate level of challenge.
Graduate programs for working professionals
The Minneapolis branch of Globe University/Minnesota School of Business (GU/MSB) offers two graduate degrees designed specifically for working professionals.
- Master of Business Administration (MBA): Advanced studies that prepare students for leadership in any type of organization or entrepreneurial initiative
- Master of Science in Management (MSM): Industry-specific studies in one of three areas of emphasis—Health Care Management, Information Technology Management or Managerial Leadership

Credit for professional experience
Many students in these programs are eligible to receive graduate credit for professional experience, military training, certifications, previous graduate work or other course-equivalent experiences. Up to 50% of program requirements can be satisfied in this way. Students are encouraged to contact their campus dean for more information on applying for credit. There is no charge for evaluation of credentials or for credits awarded.
Application of theory in the workplace
The MBA and MSM programs stress the application of theories of leadership. Students are expected to apply concepts in the course of professional employment. As a result, an international student may benefit from this curricular practical training component.
